At CAA's 50th conference hosted in April 2023 at Amsterdam, Pallavee Gokhale, Parth Chauhan, and Ketika Garg, proposed a session dedicated to the work happening in South Asia - titled - 'S10. Computer applications in archaeology – Bringing South Asia together'. We received great response - 12 paper presentations and 1 poster submission.
To encourage such dialogues and take archaeological research to next levels, CAA has multiple active national chapters.
For the idea of the national chapter, we received overwhelming overwhelming response from the Indian archaeological community. Here are some glimpses of responses from the prospective members.

After the completion of required documentation, we had Indian National Chapter formally proposed and approved at CAA2024 in Auckland.

As mentioned in the earlier call, we now look forward to establish a network of like-minded people who are interested in taking Indian Archaeology forward with the use of effective, creative, and cutting edge computer applications.
The primary aims of initiation of this chapter are:
To create a network of archaeologists, computer scientists, and experts in allied fields of archaeology whose work focuses on the cultural heritage of the Indian subcontinent.
To create learning opportunities for students and professionals in the region to enhance their skills.
To arrange meets/ talks for students and professionals in India to raise awareness of the mission of CAA-International, to develop relevant skills, and provide an avenue for information exchange.
To encourage value addition using computer applications at different stages of archaeological research.
